Angelis Vasileios

Vasilis Angelis is Professor Emeritus of Quantitative Methods at the Department of Business Administration (DBA) of the University of the Aegean (UA) where where he served from 1987 to 2015. He holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Athens, an M.Sc. in Operational Research and Statistics from the University of Aston, Birmingham and a Ph.D. in Control Theory as applied to socio-economic systems, from the University of Warwick, UK.

During his long term at the University of the Aegean he has served as Director of the Quantitative Methods Laboratory of the DBA, Director of the Department’s MBA programme, Head of the DBA, Head of the Strategic Planning Committee of the University’s Business School, Member of the Business School Deanery, Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Company for the Management and Development of the University’s property and Member of the University’s Senate.

In addition to the University of the Aegean, he has taught, as a visiting professor, at the Hellenic Open University, the Athens University of Economics and Business and the University of West Attica. Furthermore, he has extensive work experience in the private and the banking sectors.

He has written three books and lecture notes and is the editor of a volume of collected academic papers. He has also successfully supervised one post doctoral research and 14 doctoral theses. Moreover, he has participated in many research programs and in several of them as Scientific Coordinator. He has published over 50 scientific articles in international academic journals and over 100 scientific articles in national and international conference proceedings. Finally, he is referee in many academic journals and member of many scientific societies and associations.

His current research interests include the sustainable, resilient development of cities and regions, with particular emphasis on islands, the circular economy and its applications, the development of symbiotic networks and the smart cities.
