Christina Bonarou

Christina Bonarou holds a Ph.D. in Communication, Tourism and Culture from the Panteion University of Athens, Greece and works as a project manager and researcher in projects funded by the European Union (Erasmus+, AMIF, REC, etc.), focusing on the development of digital literacy, culture and tourism issues, adult education, empowerment of vulnerable social groups, etc.

She teaches at the Training Institute of the National School of Public Administration and Local Government and is a member of the Associate Teaching Staff at the Hellenic Open University, in the undergraduate programme of Tourism Management. She has taught at the Panteion University, the University of Patras and the Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki (now International Hellenic University) in the Department of Tourism Business Management. She has also worked as scientific personnel - communications specialist in the public sector.

She holds a degree in Communication, Media and Culture (Panteion University), a Master's degree in Cultural Policy, Management and Communication (Panteion University) and a Master's degree in Tourism Planning, Management and Policy (University of the Aegean).

Her research interests and publications focus on issues of visual culture, crisis communication management, social media and e-storytelling, special and alternative forms of tourism, sustainable tourism development, etc. Her book “Visual Culture and Tourism: Representations of Greece in Tourist Postcards” is published in Greek by Papazisis Editions.
