Dr Theodoros A. Stavrinoudis is Professor of “Tourism Business Administration and Human Resource Management” at the Department of Tourism Economics and Management and at the Joint Postgraduate Programme “Strategic Management of Tourism Destinations and Hospitality Businesses” of the University of the Aegean. He also teaches on other postgraduate tourism programmes (Hellenic Open University, Harokopio University, International Hellenic University) and has delivered numerous public lectures.
He is Director of the Joint Postgraduate Programme “Strategic Management of Tourism Destinations and Hospitality Businesses”, as well as founder and Director of the Laboratory of Innovative Tourism Entrepreneurship and Human Resource Development (iTED Lab). He has served as Head of the Department of Tourism Economics and Management, member of the Senate of the Institution, member of the Dean’s Council of the School of Business, and Director of the Laboratory of Tourism Research and Studies (ETEM).
He has contributed to three books, one research monograph and eighteen edited volumes. He has published numerous articles in reputable international peer-reviewed journals (including Tourism Management, Current Issues in Tourism and the Journal of Human Resources in Hospitality and Tourism) and has presented papers at international academic conferences. He has written educational manuals and supervised a large number of undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations at the University of the Aegean, the Hellenic Open University and elsewhere. He has supervised five doctoral theses and one post-doctoral research project, all successfully defended, and currently supervises doctoral candidates and post-doctoral researchers.
He is a reviewer for international journals and conferences and serves on the scientific and organising committees of international journals and conferences. His research interests lie in the broader field of tourism management, and specifically in tourism business administration, strategic management of tourism enterprises, and human resource management in tourism businesses — with emphasis on training and development, reskilling and upskilling, motivation, empowerment, and coaching and mentoring.
