Commitment
The University of the Aegean is committed to making this website accessible in accordance with Greek Law 4727/2020 (Government Gazette A΄ 184/23.09.2020), which transposed Directive (EU) 2016/2102 into Greek law.
This statement applies to the website of the Joint Postgraduate Programme “Strategic Management of Tourism Destinations and Hospitality Businesses”, at https://tourism-pms.aegean.gr, in all its language versions.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the EN 301 549 V3.2.1 standard and the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines, because of the instances of non-compliance listed below.
“Partially compliant” means that the website meets most accessibility requirements, but certain points do not yet fully satisfy them.
Non-accessible content
1. Colour contrast — WCAG 1.4.3 (AA)
An audit carried out on 11 September 2026 identified 96 elements with insufficient contrast across 12 pages. These concern text in a petrol shade on a light background. The measured contrast ratios:

Status: a correction to the colour palette has been scheduled. Estimated completion: October 2026.
2. ARIA roles in a dynamic grid — WCAG 1.3.1 (A)
The grid displaying faculty members contains elements that its declared role does not permit, which may confuse a screen reader navigating the list. Four pages are affected. The issue originates in the page-building system rather than in the content.
Status: under investigation. The same information is available through each faculty member’s individual page.
3. Third-party content — outside scope
The Contact page embeds a Google map. This content is supplied by a third party and its accessibility is not controlled by the University (Article 37(3) of Law 4727/2020). The same information is also given in text: 8 Michalon St., 82132 Chios, Greece.
Likewise, the reCAPTCHA service protecting the form is supplied by a third party.
4. Points not yet assessed
Keyboard-only navigation and the screen reader experience (NVDA, VoiceOver) have not yet been systematically assessed. They will be included in the next audit, and this statement will be updated accordingly.
What already works correctly
The audit established that the website satisfies the following:
- language declaration on every page, correctly switching between Greek and English
- exactly one first-level heading (H1) on every page, with a correct H2 and H3 hierarchy
- alternative text on all images, including the logo
- an accessible name on every link, including the social media icons
- a descriptive title on every embedded frame
- a skip link to the main content
- an accessible name on every button
- no data presented in pseudo-tables — information is conveyed with correct semantic structure
- full operation over an encrypted connection, with no dependencies that obstruct assistive technologies
How this statement was prepared
This statement was prepared on 11 September 2026 by self-assessment, which comprised:
- an automated audit using the WAVE (Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool)
- an automated audit of 12 representative pages in a real browser using the axe-core 4.10 engine, across the full set of WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA rules — including computation of colour contrast ratios
- a programmatic check of all published pages for language declaration, alternative texts, frame titles, skip link, heading hierarchy and button naming
The statement will be reviewed at least annually and after any substantial modification of the website.
