Koufodontis Nikolaos-Iason

Dr. Nikolaos Iason Koufodontis is teaching staff at the University of the Aegean School of Business and adjunct faculty at the Hellenic Open University. Member of the Laboratory of Innovative Tourism Entrepreneurship and Human Resources Development of the University of the Aegean, scientific partner of other academic labs.

Over 28 years of experience in adult training (certified by main national authorities) and 17 years of autonomous academic lecturing in undergraduate and graduate study programs at universities in Europe and the United States.

A total of 3 decades of research experience, since 1994, as a researcher in EU-funded research programmes. Book author with research published in international scientific journals and conferences. Reviewer in international scientific journals and evaluator/certifier of European research programmes.

Specialized in digital entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and utilization of information and communication technologies in services management with focus on hospitality businesses and destination management. Other topics include organizational and technological innovation in management with specialization in tourism, small and medium hospitality enterprises strategy, internet and social media in tourism, aviation and tourism, destination e-image and branding, regional development.

Worked in the private sector as co-owner and partner of internet services providers. Has extensive knowledge and experience in programming, application development, information management, knowledge discovery, internet technologies etc. Pioneer in the development and implementation of numerous innovative digital technologies in tourism since the dawn of the internet age in Greece.
