    Description on the use of information and communication technologies in all issues concerning tourism (in micro and macro level), as well as in areas influenced by the tourism activities (transports, culture, environment,…).

  • Learning outcomes:

    We offer complete knowledge in the particular cognitive object: exists multiple and multilevel approach (overall - general - concise teaching approach, specialized - theoretical and practical approach, discussions on different opinions). The evaluation of knowledge includes: the attendance in face to face teaching, the layout, organization and presentation of the theoretical and practical work, as well as the written text ( the complete evaluation of 4 characteristics -training results, knowledge, dexterities, faculties- results from the combination of those activities).

  • Prerequisites:

    Basic knowledge on computer systems. Use of Office-like applications.

  • Module Contents (Syllabus):

    Information technology today. Basic concepts and scientific areas, modern environments for dialogue and applications. Basic applications (Office, Internet) and services (multimedia). Examples of the use of these applications in tourism. The use of Informatics in tourism planning. Basic concepts of cartography and GISs; examples of their use in tourism planning. The use of Informatics in the management of tourism enterprises. Basic types of applications (hotels, travel agencies and travel, special purpose tourism, culture,…) and their main characteristics. Related examples. Modern research trends -- Global Distribution Systems, Expert Systems in Tourism, Decision Aid Systems. Categorization of the information support of the points of creation, sales and consumption of tourist products. Characteristics and particularities of informatics application in management of tourist products, services and agencies. Characteristic applications and case studies. Modern trends and evolution in the informatics support of the administration and management of tourist product and services.

    The main issue of the syllabus is presented by teaching, while the individual specialized applications are undertaken as work by the students and are presented in their colleagues.
